[Oops! I realized after I uploaded that when I recorded the show yesterday, I included a “vanishing art” story in the lineup – and forgot to talk about it. I can’t go back and do it now because I’ve lost my voice…. a good thing I recorded early, in fact. So… another time! And, oops again! I believe I referred to the Flickr artist who does such wonderful illustrations of the little jointed wooden figure as a “he” – which is wrong.]

What strange timing- I have been taking out so many graphic novels lately, and thinking of doing my own comic as well. Your episode really hit home. One of my favorites is “Blankets” by Craig Thompson. Also, you might be interested in “The Quiltmaker’s Gift” – a great kid’s book with beautiful quilt illustrations.
This show actually prompted me to take down a book from my shelf. It is “Illustrator’s Reference Manual Nudes”, which I picked up at a used book store year ago. One of the nice things is that it shows each position from many different angles so that you can pick the one that appeals to you most.
